5th grade graduation

Mikie had his 5th grade graduation on June 10th, 2009. He is now off to middle school. He'll be going to Marine View and will be taking the bus most school days. He's excited to be starting something new!

After the ceremony with his certificate of completion!

A walk through the American Revolution

I just got back from watching one of Mikie's class activities. It was, A Walk Through the American Revolution. For a few weeks now, the kids have been learning their parts and preparing for this activity. Someone came in and taught them about the American Revolution, and within the lesson, the kids had parts that focused on important people, words and events of the American Revolution. Mikie was Sam Adams, the person in charge of the Boston Tea Party.

And here he is Sam Adams... AKA Mikie

The whole colonial class

Here is Mikie's speech. Yeah, sorry its sideways, but I didn't think about how the video would come out sideways, if I filmed it that way. I'm so used to flipping pictures the right side up if I shoot them sideways.

Baseball Fever!!

Deuce and Makayla had there first t-ball game yesterday (yes, they play on the same team), so Mikie and I went to go watch them. They were so cute and funny to watch, because all they wanted to do was have fun. David is coaching and he asked Mikie to help out a little yesterday and Mikie was happy to. I asked Mikie if helping brought back memories, he said yes, but it just made him want to coach.  After the game was over, Mikie had the fever! He's ready to get back on base. Too bad it's a little to late, he'll have to wait till next season.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well, here it is. My baked good for the this month, shamrock cupcakes. These are going to go well with our St. Patrick's Day menu. Mikie wants green eggs and ham for breakfast and for dinner, we are having corned beef and cabbage!

Cakes

I took a cake decorating class a couple of years ago and found out that I enjoyed it and I could probably get pretty good at it. So, whenever I have some free time I like to practice different designs and techniques. As you can see, I haven't had much time to practice. But, my goal from here on, is to make a delicious treat each month.

Here is February's treat, brownies that I made for Valentine's day. It was my time first making them, so they didn't come out that great. They are covered with chocolate fudge and those are suppose to be pink dripping hearts. They did taste Delicious!

This cake I made for Mike's Birthday last year. Also, my first time trying this design. It was a white cake frosted with buttercream. The top is covered bordered around the bottom with sprinkled, then lightly sprinkled with confetti, edible of coarse.

This cake was made for practice. It's a two layer cake with frosting between the layers and is frosted with buttercream. The rainbow is made of stars and zigzagged clouds. The bottom of the cake is bordered with using stars also.

I made this cake for David's birthday two years ago. Just simple with a golfer golfing on the green. Also frosted with buttercream, with buttercream grass bordering around the bottom.

February Recap

February was a pretty eventful month. First off, I got really sick with the flu the first weekend. I had to call in sick to work that following Monday and should have called in a couple of days after. But, I didn't. I didn't start to feel 100% better till a week and a few days later. It felt so good to get my appetite back and start eating food though! I felt better just in time for Mikie's music school's Winter Concert. He did really good! He played Can't Stop, by Red Hot Chili Peppers (as soon as I can find a way to get the video on my computer, I'll post it). The next event was getting my hair cut. I ended up cutting 12 in. off and my hair ended up being even with my chin. It was not the length I was going for, but I was able to donate my hair to Locks of Love. Which by the way, was not the reason why I cut my hair. It was just a bonus to not being able to make it to the hair salon sooner. Finally, Mikie's class play, Bullies Anonymous. He was the "physical bully", who had a few lines in the play and a solo in one of the songs ( I will post this too when I can get the video on my computer). He did really good in the play. He wasn't even shy and played his part very well. He looked so cute with his hat and sunglasses. Well, I think that's about it for the month February. We'll see what March brings us.
